Driving somewhere this Labor Day? These tips are a must!

Are you planning on going somewhere this Labor Day? You’re not alone! At some point you will probably find yourself in heavy traffic. However, if you follow these tips you can make the best of the predictable highway mess.

1.       Drive slowly. Yes, you want to get to your ultimate destination and you want to do it quickly. However, if there is traffic you would be better keeping with the flow of traffic. Besides, nothing is more aggravating than speeding up and then having to slam on your brakes.
2.       Get out of drive. Many drivers of automatic cars are guilty of keeping their car in drive all the time. If you are in stop and go traffic though, there is a better option: D3. Be sure this is what you are using in stop-and-go traffic.
3.       Keep with the flow of traffic. If you go too fast or too slow you will be a hazard to yourself and others.
4.       Be hyper-vigilant. Other drivers are going to be stressed and might make stupid decisions. Be on the lookout. But…
5.       Take breaks. Nothing wears you out like having to be hyper-vigilant on a congested road.
6.       Enjoy the trip with road games! Traffic jams are the perfect place to play classic road trip games and this will help pass the time faster.
